ABOUT THE JOURNAL
A place for
practical thinking.
The Whealhouse is an English-language informational publication about the decisions behind filmmaking.
A new publication, not a continuation
A new independent informational publication under new ownership. Not affiliated with, or a continuation of, the former Whealhouse production and post-production business. We do not handle its projects or contracts.
This website does not represent the former business, its personnel, its clients, or its body of work. It is not an archive of that business. Nothing here should be read as a claim to its credits, experience, or reputation.
What you will find here
Our evergreen guides cover preproduction, editing, location sound, and planning small productions. They focus on accessible working methods: making a scene brief, testing coverage, listening to a location, and leaving enough time to finish a day properly.
The site is an editorial resource, not an active production or post-production studio. It does not offer bookings, production services, or project management. It cannot provide support for former projects, contracts, or business enquiries.
How to use the guides
Use the articles as starting points, then adapt them to the people, equipment, and conditions involved. They are general educational material, not a substitute for qualified safety, legal, insurance, or specialist production advice. Where risk or regulation is involved, seek advice appropriate to your location and project.
Images and independence
The abstract contact sheet and shot diagram are original illustrations made for this publication. They are not frames from existing films or evidence of production credits. There are no testimonials, staff biographies, festival claims, or implied client relationships.
